Why should I choose College Walk?

College Walk not only meets your needs, we exceed the service you expect. We believe in our mission of Tradition, Service and Excellence. The charming town of Brevard has been recognized as one of America's top ten places to live and play by Rand McNally, National Geographic Traveler, and The Wall Street Journal.

Do you require an endowment?

No! College Walk is based upon the model of leasing or purchasing one's residence. Certain services are included, and more options may be added as desired for a small monthly fee.

Do you require a medical review?

Yes, we do ask that you provide the results of a physical examination prior to moving in to College Walk.

What are my choices for type of residence?

We have options to suit any level of independence you desire.

  • Purchase a home of your own.
  • Lease a Cottage Residence, with optional additional services.
  • Lease a Lodge residence for 5-star service and spectacular views.
  • Lease a residence at the Inn for special personal care.

Do you have a waiting list program?

Yes, with our Wait List Program you can select the type of residence you desire. The wait list is based on the date of your application. When we contact you, you have the first right of refusal. If you sell or leave your current home before your preferred College Walk residence becomes available, we will work with you to provide an alternative residence until your first choice becomes available.

Now is the time to plan for your future, whether that be in six months, one year, five years or longer.

As a result of Brevard's and College Walk's reputations, the wait list on our rental residences ranges from 6-12 months for anything smaller than a Cambridge, 18-36 months for the larger two bedrooms, and approximately 2-5 years for the Cluster Homes.

When you are on the wait list, you will be called as residences become available. If the timing is not right for you to make a move, you will still maintain your priority place on the list. By going on the wait list now, you better insure that when you are ready to move, College Walk will have the type of residence you desire. Going on a wait list creates options for you and can add to your peace of mind. In addition, as a wait list member, you may participate in scheduled activities at College Walk by calling in advance for reservations. We also hold get-togethers and Open Houses several times each year, especially for our Wait List members. These are great ways to get acquainted with College Walk and your future neighbors.

What are my options for health care?

All owners and residents of College Walk Cottages and the Lodge have access to 24-hour in-home health care consultation. For an additional fee, residents can sign up for additional in-home health care services. Residents of the Inn enjoy full-service personal health care from our qualified staff. In addition, within four minutes of College Walk are two nursing facilities, a hospital and various medical practices.

Are residences furnished?

All residences are unfurnished, allowing you to bring whatever furniture and accessories you like to decorate your new home.

Is there a minimum age for residence?

Yes, our minimum age for residence is 55.

Do you allow pets?

Yes! We encourage our residents to enjoy the companionship of small to medium sized pets, such as cats, dogs, and birds.

Are there facilities for my guests, including overnight?

Yes. If you would like to entertain your guests at your residence, we will supply rollaway beds with all the sheets, blankets and pillows needed to make your guests comfortable. If you prefer, your guests may also enjoy an overnight stay in a guest room with kitchenette for $35 per night.
